The Cisco C9K-PWR-1600WDCR/2 is a hot-swappable, front-to-back airflow 1600W secondary redundant DC-input power supply module built exclusively for Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series fixed-form-factor high-performance enterprise switches. It features identical electrical and mechanical specifications to the primary unitC9K-PWR-1600WDC-R. Installed as the secondary power unit, it establishes a 1+1 load-sharing redundant power architecture together with the primary PSU. This telecom-grade DC power module provides stable regulated 12VDC power for switching ASICs, management subsystems, high-density 25G/40G/100G interface modules and internal cooling assemblies. It supports seamless automatic power failover to eliminate single-point power failure risks for carrier, industrial and data center aggregation switching infrastructure.

The switch chassis supports mixed deployment: dual DC, dual AC, or one AC PSU (C9K-PWR-1600WAC-R) plus one DC PSU. Cisco recommends matching identical PSU variants for redundant configurations. This power supply cannot be installed on Catalyst 9400 modular chassis or Catalyst 9500X platforms. Vacant power bays must be covered withC9K-PWR-C4-BLANKfiller panels to maintain chassis airflow, thermal balance and EMC compliance. Mixing power supplies with inconsistent airflow directions within one rack is prohibited.
