Product Overview

Important Note: This is anexternal backup power system, not an internal hot-swappable chassis PSU. It cannot directly power network hardware without a compatible RPS cable connection. Maximum one switch receives backup power at any moment.

1. 300 Watt Continuous Backup Power Capacity

   Supports both 12V non-PoE switches and -48V PoE-capable switches for IP Phone, AP and surveillance camera deployments. Failover latency is less than 60 microseconds to avoid device restarts during primary PSU failure.

   Worldwide auto-ranging mains specification:

• Input Voltage: 100 VAC ~ 240 VAC

• Built-in IEC C14 power inlet for standard AC power cords

1. External 1RU Rack-Mount Form Factor

   Standard 19-inch rack installation. Multiple RPS cables can be connected for up to six switches, though only one failing unit gets backup power simultaneously.

   Important Note: Requires dedicated Cisco RPS serial cables (CAB-RPS-xxxx series). Not compatible with ISR routers, Firepower firewalls or Nexus data center switches.
2. Non Hot-Swap Unit

   The RPS 300 unit itself requires power shutdown for hardware replacement. Connected switch equipment maintains operation during active failover events.
3. Front Panel LED Status Indicators

   Visible LEDs display AC input status, active backup output, fault alarms and cable connection status for easy on-site monitoring.
4. Multi-Layer Hardware Protection

   Integrated overvoltage protection (OVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), overtemperature protection (OTP), surge protection and short-circuit protection to safeguard the RPS unit and connected switch infrastructure.
5. Coexistence with UPS Infrastructure

   Can be deployed alongside external UPS systems to deliver two-tier power protection: short-term backup for internal PSU failure and extended runtime for mains power blackouts.
