Important Note: Do NOT confuse this unit with Catalyst C9300-FAN (campus Catalyst switch fan) or legacy C9300-FAN2/FAN3 (for original non-FX Nexus 9300). Its counterpart modelC9300-FAN4-Bprovides port-side exhaust airflow with blue pull tab.Never mix fan trays with different airflow directions inside a single chassis. This fan tray only supports Nexus 9300-FX/FX2 series and is incompatible with classic original Nexus 9300, FX3, Catalyst 9300 switches.

1. Intelligent Variable-Speed Thermal Regulation

   The fan tray dynamically adjusts rotational speed based on internal chassis temperature. It operates at low RPM under light traffic loads to reduce acoustic noise, and automatically increases airflow during high-temperature conditions and heavy data forwarding workloads. Built-in thermal sensors transmit real-time environmental telemetry to the NX-OS operating system.
2. Port-Side Intake Airflow Architecture

   Airflow Direction: Port-side intake (Front intake → Rear exhaust). Visually marked by burgundy pull tab. It must be matched with port-intake power supplies to maintain consistent thermal design for cold aisle containment deployment.
3. OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) Support

   Engineers can replace defective fan trays without powering off or rebooting the Nexus switch, minimizing service interruption for mission-critical leaf-spine, ACI and VXLAN data center fabrics. Tool-free quick-release latch simplifies installation and removal procedures.
4. Integrated Visual Status LED Indicator

   Status LED located on the fan tray provides local real-time monitoring:

• Solid Green: Normal operating status
• Solid Amber / Flashing Amber: Fan stall, hardware failure or abnormal state
  NX-OS generates environmental event logs and SNMP traps immediately once fan faults are detected.

   Supported Nexus 9300-FX/FX2 chassis deploy multiple fan trays. If one tray fails, remaining functional fans ramp up speed automatically to sustain adequate cooling capacity. Faulty fans need timely replacement to eliminate thermal single point of failure.

   Heavy-duty ball-bearing fan assembly designed for 24/7 continuous data center operation. Efficiently dissipates heat generated by switch ASICs, CPU, memory and power modules under high-density traffic loads.
