Product Overview

Important Note: This is chassis-specific hardware. It cannot be interchanged with FAN-MOD-3HS (high-speed variant), FAN-MOD-4, FAN-MOD-6 and other fan trays for 6500/7600 series different chassis. Individual fans inside the tray are not field-replaceable. The entire tray must be replaced once any internal fan fails. Operating the chassis without an installed fan tray triggers critical thermal alarms and risks permanent hardware damage caused by overheating.

1. Intelligent Variable-Speed Thermal Regulation

   The fan tray dynamically adjusts fan rotational speed based on real-time internal chassis temperature, operating altitude and equipment load. Fans operate at low RPM under light workloads to reduce acoustic noise and automatically boost airflow under high-temperature conditions. Real-time thermal information is sent to Cisco IOS for continuous environmental monitoring.
2. Side-to-Side Airflow Architecture

   Airflow Direction: Side-to-side airflow, the native thermal design for Catalyst 6503 and 7603 chassis. It ensures uniform air circulation across all inserted modules, suitable for enterprise wiring closet and edge core network rack deployments.
3. OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) Support

   Technicians can replace the whole fan tray without powering off or rebooting Catalyst 6503 switch or 7603 router. Equipped with ergonomic handles and captive screws for convenient tool-free installation and removal, minimizing network maintenance downtime.
4. Front Panel Visual Status LED & Remote Monitoring

   Status LED on the front face of the fan tray provides instant local visual feedback:

• Solid Green: All internal fans operate normally
• Solid Red: One or more internal fans stall or encounter hardware faults
  Cisco IOS records environmental logs and sends SNMP traps to centralized monitoring systems immediately once fan failures are detected.

   Multiple independent fans are integrated inside one tray. If a single fan malfunctions, remaining functional fans automatically increase rotational speed to maintain basic cooling capacity.
