Product Overview
The Cisco WS-C6K-9SLOT-FAN2 is ahigh-speed hot-swappable integrated fan trayexclusively engineered forCisco Catalyst 6009 and Catalyst 6509 non-E 9-slot modular switch chassis. It serves as the high airflow upgrade counterpart of WS-C6K-9SLOT-FAN (standard-speed version). This assembly integrates nine built-in high-performance fans delivering side-to-side airflow to cool supervisor engines, line cards, power supplies and all internal chassis hardware. Each Catalyst 6009 / 6509 non-E chassis supports only one fan tray slot.
Important Note: This high-speed fan tray ismandatory for deployments equipped with Supervisor Engine 32, Supervisor Engine 720 and high-power interface modules. It cannot be installed on Catalyst 6509-E enhanced chassis. Individual fans inside the tray are not field-replaceable; the entire tray must be replaced once any internal fan fails. Operating the chassis without a properly installed fan tray triggers critical thermal alarms and risks permanent hardware damage caused by overheating.
