Product Overview
The Cisco WS-C6509-NEB-FAN (commonly referenced as WS-C6K-NEB-FAN) is a standard-speed, hot-swappable integrated fan tray exclusively engineered for theCisco Catalyst 6509-NEB and Catalyst 6509-NEB-A vertical 9-slot NEBS-compliant modular switch chassis. It delivers forced front-to-back airflow, specifically designed for telecom environments requiring NEBS certification. This tray provides uniform cooling for supervisor engines, line cards, power supplies and all internal chassis hardware. Each Catalyst 6509-NEB / 6509-NEB-A chassis supports a single fan tray slot.
Important Note: This fan tray is chassis-specific hardware. It cannot be used on standard horizontal Catalyst 6509, Catalyst 6509-E or any other Catalyst 6500 series chassis variants. Individual fans inside the tray are not field-replaceable; the entire tray must be swapped out if any internal fan fails. WS-C6509-NEB-UPGRD serves as the high airflow upgrade option for high-power supervisors. Operating the chassis without a fully functional fan tray triggers critical thermal alarms and may result in permanent hardware damage caused by overheating.
