Product Overview

Important Note: OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) is supported under IOS XE with defined ambient temperature constraints. All replacement operations must be completed within the chassis thermal protection timeout window to avoid emergency power-off caused by overheating. Standard ESD anti-static procedures must be followed during handling. This fan tray cannot be used on ASR1002, ASR1006, ASR1002-X, ASR1000-X series or any other ASR1000 router variants.

   The fan tray dynamically adjusts rotor speed according to real-time internal chassis temperature, altitude and system thermal load. Fans operate at low RPM under light traffic conditions to lower power consumption and acoustic noise, and accelerate automatically to boost airflow when internal temperature rises. All environmental telemetry data is reported to IOS XE for centralized monitoring.
2. Front-to-Rear Airflow Architecture

   Cool air enters from the front intake of the ASR1004 chassis; hot exhaust air discharges towards the rear of the rack. Maintain unobstructed ventilation space at front and rear to prevent airflow restriction and thermal hotspots.
3. OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) Support

   Engineers can execute fan tray replacement while the router stays powered and continues forwarding live network traffic. Strictly comply with the maintenance time limit to prevent triggering thermal protection shutdown.
4. Visual Status LED & Remote Monitoring

   Front-panel status LED provides straightforward local status indication:

• Solid Green: All internal fan rotors operate normally
• Solid Amber/Red: Fan failure or over-temperature alarm triggered
  IOS XE generates syslog entries and sends SNMP traps to centralized monitoring platforms once fan faults are detected.
