Cisco ISR4300-FAN Full English Description

Product Overview

The Cisco ISR4300-FAN (corresponding official spare part numbers: ACS-4320-FANASSY=, ACS-4330-FANASSY=, ACS-4450-FANASSY= for ISR4351) is a hot-swappable fan tray FRU developed for theCisco ISR 4300 Series 1RU Integrated Services Routers (ISR4321, ISR4331, ISR4351). Each router chassis requires one dedicated fan tray for forced cooling of mainboard, CPU, NIM/SM interface modules and internal power units. The standard airflow configuration isFront-to-Rear (Bezel-to-Port). Reverse airflow fan assemblies are available as optional spares for specific hot-aisle/cold-aisle data center deployments.
Important Note: Each ISR4300 model uses a model-specific fan assembly; fan trays for ISR4321, ISR4331 and ISR4351cannot be cross-interchanged. OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) is supported under Cisco IOS XE. All replacement tasks should be completed rapidly. Long-term removal of the fan tray will trigger thermal protection and potential router shutdown. Standard ESD anti-static handling procedures must be followed during maintenance. This fan tray cannot be deployed on ISR4400, ISR G2 3900/3800 series, ASR series routers or Catalyst/Nexus switches.

  1. Intelligent Variable-Speed Thermal Regulation
    The fan tray dynamically adjusts fan rotational speed based on real-time internal chassis temperature and operating altitude. Fans run at low RPM under light traffic loads to reduce power consumption and acoustic noise, and automatically accelerate to boost airflow when internal temperatures rise. All thermal telemetry data is monitored and reported via Cisco IOS XE.
  2. Front-to-Rear Airflow Architecture (Standard Version)
    Cool ambient air enters the router from the front bezel side, and hot exhaust air discharges toward the rear port side of the chassis. Maintain unobstructed ventilation space at front and rear rack sides to avoid airflow blockage and thermal hotspots. Reverse airflow variants are offered for dedicated data center rack layouts.
  3. OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) Support
    Field engineers can perform fan tray replacement while the router remains powered and forwards live network traffic. Complete the swap quickly to prevent triggering chassis over-temperature protection. IOS XE automatically detects and validates the fan hardware after reinstallation.
  4. System Monitoring & Alarm Notification
    Cisco IOS XE continuously monitors the rotating speed of each independent fan rotor.
  • Solid Green LED: All fans operate normally within rated RPM range
  • Solid Amber LED: Single fan rotor fault detected
  • Blinking Amber LED: Multiple fan failures or fan tray removed
    The system generates console syslog messages and SNMP traps to alert network administrators once fan anomalies occur.
  1. Internal Fan Redundancy
    Multiple independent DC brushless fan rotors are integrated inside one tray assembly. If one rotor fails, remaining fans provide temporary partial cooling capacity. Engineers should arrange immediate FRU replacement upon receiving fault alarms to eliminate outage risks.
  2. Enterprise-Grade Reliability
    Industrial brushless DC fans are adopted for stable 24/7 continuous operation in enterprise branch offices, retail sites, SD-WAN edge, unified communications gateway and remote networking environments.
