Cisco FPR1K-FAN Full English Description
Product Overview
The Cisco FPR1K-FAN (market generic alias) refers to integrated cooling fan hardware for theCisco Firepower 1000 Series (FPR1010, FPR1120, FPR1140, FPR1150) Next-Generation Firewall Appliances.
Critical Hardware Note: Firepower 1000 series utilizesbuilt-in, non-field-replaceable internal fans. There is no separate pluggable hot-swap fan tray FRU named FPR1K-FAN=. If fan failure occurs, the entire firewall chassis must be returned to Cisco RMA service for internal fan replacement. No independent on-site fan swap is supported.
This cooling assembly provides forced-air thermal dissipation for CPU, SSD, mainboard and internal circuit components. Standard airflow direction isFront-to-Rear (bezel intake, rear port exhaust). Reverse airflow variants are not available for Firepower 1000 platforms.
Important Note: No OIR (Online Insertion and Removal) support. The chassis must be fully powered off and disassembled to access the fan unit, which can only be completed by Cisco authorized service personnel. Improper disassembly will void hardware warranty. This internal fan unit cannot be interchanged with FPR2K-FAN (Firepower 2100), FPR3K-FAN or any other Firepower series fan trays.
Key Features
-
Intelligent Variable-Speed Thermal Regulation
The fan dynamically adjusts rotational speed based on real-time internal chassis temperature and operating altitude. It runs at low RPM under light traffic loads to minimize acoustic noise and power consumption, and automatically accelerates to increase airflow when internal temperatures rise. All thermal status telemetry is monitored and reported via FTD (Firepower Threat Defense) / ASA operating system.
-
Front-to-Rear Airflow Architecture
Cool ambient air enters the firewall from the front panel; heated air exhausts toward the rear I/O port side. Keep front and rear ventilation areas unobstructed to avoid airflow restriction and thermal hotspots.
-
Maintenance Restriction
No customer field replaceable fan tray. End users cannot remove or replace the fan assembly on-site. Fan fault remediation requires official Cisco RMA chassis exchange or factory repair.
-
System Monitoring & Alarm Notification
FTD / ASA OS continuously monitors fan rotation speed.
-
Normal status: Fan operates within rated RPM range
-
Fault state: System generates console logs, FMC alerts and SNMP traps once fan stall or failure is detected. Continuous operation with a faulty fan will trigger thermal protection and automatic system shutdown.
-
Single Integrated Fan Design
Firepower 1000 series uses a single integrated brushless DC fan.No internal fan redundancy. Fan failure directly creates overheating risk. Network administrators must arrange hardware RMA immediately upon receiving fan fault alarms.
-
Enterprise-Grade Reliability
Low-noise industrial brushless DC fan designed for 24/7 continuous operation in small branch offices, remote retail sites and compact rack branch security deployments.
Supported Hardware Platforms
-
Cisco FPR1010-NGFW-K9
