Product Overview
The Cisco BLWR-RPS2300= is an integrated front-access field-replaceable blower fan module FRU exclusively designed for theCisco RPS 2300 Redundant Power System (1RU rackmount redundant power chassis).
This unit contains the main cooling blower, front panel status LEDs, control buttons (Select, Standby/Active) and interface circuitry for the RPS2300 system. It delivers forced-air cooling for internal power supply modules and electronic components inside the RPS 2300 chassis. Maximum airflow capacity reaches45 CFMunder full-load high-temperature operating conditions.
Important Hardware Note:
The fan module supports conditional OIR (Online Insertion and Removal). If the RPS 2300 isnot actively backing up any connected network device, technicians can hot-swap the fan module without powering off the RPS chassis. If the unit is providing backup power to switches or routers, power down the RPS 2300 before fan replacement to avoid thermal risks. Strict ESD anti-static handling procedures must be followed during maintenance. This blower module cannot be interchanged with any other Cisco switch, router or firewall fan assemblies. No reverse airflow variant is available.

Intelligent Variable-Speed Thermal Regulation
The blower dynamically adjusts rotational speed based on internal chassis temperature and operating altitude. It runs at low speed under light loads to minimize acoustic noise and power consumption, and automatically increases speed to boost airflow when internal temperatures rise. All thermal status data is monitored by the RPS 2300 embedded controller.

Optimized Airflow Architecture
Airflow routing changes slightly depending on installed power supplies (750W or 1150W modules). The blower draws cool ambient air through chassis side vents across power supplies and exhausts heated air toward the rear of the RPS2300 unit. Maintain unobstructed rack ventilation space on both sides and rear of the chassis to prevent thermal hotspots.

Conditional OIR Support
Hot swap is permitted only when RPS 2300 is not supplying backup power to external switches/routers. Do not leave the fan slot vacant for extended periods; prolonged operation without the blower will trigger over-temperature protection and potential hardware failure. After installation, the RPS controller automatically recognizes and validates the fan module.

The BLWR-RPS2300 module incorporates the complete front user interface: status LEDs for system and DC output ports, plus physical buttons to select RPS channels and toggle Active/Standby power backup modes.
