Huawei CloudEngine CE6851‑48S6Q‑HI High‑Performance Fixed Data‑Center Switch
Product Overview
The Huawei CloudEngine CE6851‑48S6Q‑HI is a 1‑rack‑unit high‑density fixed‑port Layer2‑Layer3 switch of CloudEngine 6800 series, running Huawei VRP‑8 operating system. Equipped with 48×10GE SFP+ ports and 6×40GE QSFP+ uplink ports, QSFP+ interfaces can be split into four 10GE ports for flexible port expansion. It supports FCoE to converge computing, storage and data services on one physical network. It supports iStack stacking, M‑LAG, TRILL, VXLAN‑EVPN and SVF vertical virtualization, suitable for ToR leaf access in cloud data‑centers. It can also work as high‑performance aggregation switch for large‑enterprise campus and safe‑city video‑surveillance networks. Hot‑swappable power and fan modules are sold separately.
Key Features
-
High‑density multi‑service hardware platform: 1U 19‑inch rack‑mount chassis, 48 line‑speed 10GE SFP+ ports and 6×40GE QSFP+ uplink slots; QSFP+ supports 1‑to‑4 10GE breakout capability. Supports FCoE for unified storage‑data network deployment. iStack stacking and M‑LAG provide millisecond‑level link fail‑over. Configurable front‑to‑back or back‑to‑front airflow adapts to various data‑center cabinet environments. Hot‑swappable power and fan modules support 1+1 redundancy.
-
Full‑feature Layer 2 / Layer 3 and data‑center protocol stack: IPv4/IPv6 dual‑stack, static routing, RIP, OSPF, IS‑IS, BGP, VRRP, ECMP and BFD. Rich Layer‑2 functions: 802.1Q VLAN, selective QinQ, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP link aggregation. Supports TRILL, VXLAN‑EVPN, SVF vertical virtualization. Comprehensive multicast suite: IGMP Snooping, PIM‑SM/DM, MSDP for IPTV and massive high‑definition video‑surveillance traffic forwarding.
-
Multi‑dimensional security protection: Supports 802.1X, MAC‑based authentication, DHCP Snooping, ARP anti‑spoofing, ACL filtering, DoS‑attack defense, IP source guard, port security and broadcast/multicast/unknown‑unicast storm suppression, implementing fine‑grained access control and threat mitigation.
-
Advanced high‑performance QoS: Multi‑field traffic classification based on Layer2‑Layer4 headers; supports SP, WRR, DRR queue scheduling, traffic policing, shaping and WRED congestion‑avoidance mechanisms to guarantee transmission quality for critical services and video streams.
-
Carrier‑grade high‑availability design: Hot‑swappable power and fan modules; supports stack redundancy, M‑LAG and link‑level fast‑protection mechanisms to reduce business‑interruption risks.
-
Open and intelligent O&M: Supports Zero‑Touch Provisioning, OPS open‑programmable capability. Management includes Console CLI, SSH, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Syslog, FTP/SFTP, out‑of‑band Ethernet management port and USB port. Compatible with Huawei iMaster NCE‑Campus for centralized deployment and monitoring of large‑scale networks.

Application Scenarios
Primarily deployed as high‑density 10GE top‑of‑rack leaf access switch inside cloud‑computing data‑centers, connecting downstream 10GE servers and uplinking to aggregation/spine layers over 40GE interfaces. With native FCoE capability, it supports converged storage‑computing network deployment. Also applicable as high‑performance aggregation‑layer device for large‑enterprise campus networks and mega‑scale safe‑city video‑surveillance networks. Cooperates with high‑end core switches such as CloudEngine 12800 series to build elastic virtualized data‑center fabric networks.
